News from the DHS School Board

Secondary review

The Board continues to work through the implications of the secondary review and representatives from both Darwin High and Darwin Middle schools will meet regularly over the coming months to consider what the merger could like and importantly explore opportunities.

A/B block refurbishment design brief

The design brief for the A and B Block refurbishment was recently endorsed by the board and is now available for the school community to review. 

A delegation of board members recently met with the Member for Fannie Bay, Brent Potter MLA, and the Member for Solomon, Luke Gosling MP to update them on the project, present the design brief and seek support. We separately met with the Leader of the Opposition to Lia Finnochiaro.

Both meetings were well received and the need for investment in Darwin High School was noted, our initial request is for $500k to commence a formal engagement with the school community, and the development of some preliminary designs and costs, which will inform the ultimate scope of the project.

Early next term the board will present the report to an all staff meeting and the SRC.

I would like to thank both Anthony Bale and Anna Goat, who as parent board members have volunteered a considerably amount of their time over the past few months on this project.

Finance committee

Policy, Education, Strategy and Performance Committee

This committee considers school policy, and reviews and evaluate the school’s academic and strategic performance. If you have skills or experience in policy and strategic performance Please contact committee chair, Phillipa Cotter via [email protected]
