Officer Sue Seears visits SIEU

By Officer Sue

Officer Sue Seears visited our Secondary Intensive English Unit (SIEU) on Friday 10 February to discuss the Role of Police in our Community.

The combined classes of Ms Kokkinomagoulos, Ms Myerscough and Ms Golding were asked to share their experience with Police in their home countries. Officer Sue then explained what role the Northern Territory Police Force have in the Community and how this may differ. Sue explained to students what her role in the school was and how they would be seeing so much more of her in the future; presenting lessons in their classrooms and on the school grounds during the school day.

What a fabulous group of students we have in the SIEU. At the end of the presentation SIEU students were offered to try on Officer Sue’s very heavy ballistic vest, a long yellow raincoat and high visibility vest and hat! Even the teachers had a go…

Officer Sue commented after this lesson that it was great fun to interact with the students and that she was looking forward to visiting again soon.
