Peace in the Pacific Tour
Darwin High School teacher Yashodara McCormack has been selected to travel to Hawaii for a six-day tour as part of the Chief Ministers' Peace in the Pacific Tour.
Next week Ms McCormack will depart Darwin as the teacher chaperone with three secondary school Northern Territory students to explore the shared military history of the Northern Territory and the state of Hawaii, and attend the National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day commemorations on 7 December.
The study tour will visit important military sites in Hawaii to get an understanding of the mutual experience and sacrifice of the people in the NT and Hawaii from their involvement in the bombing of Darwin and Pearl Harbour, and the ongoing importance of peacekeeping missions today.
We look forward to hearing all about her adventure when she returns in Week 9!
