Sailing

Sailing

This term, Year 10 Physical Pursuits students participated in a course designed to provide a safe and enjoyable introduction to sailing for complete beginners. The course included an introduction to fundamental boat handling skills and essential safety knowledge. On completion the students have sufficient skills to go onto the next course which then entitles them to sail solo in controlled and supervised conditions. Here’s what the students had to say about the experience:

"I had so much fun, especially when it was really windy and we went really fast". Hamish Tambling

"I really think everything we did was great, especially sailing through the water fast." Hugh Harding

"The capsizing was my favourite part, hard work but so fun. At least now I know what to do if I ever capsize in the future. I just enjoyed everything about sailing in the wind with your mates.” Troy Mumford

“Intriguing, sailing in the wind and going fast was awesome".Shannon Waterson

"So good, we can't believe how quickly we picked it up, we were just cruising around the other boats, totally enjoying ourselves." Freya Stephenson
