Semi-Final Success

Semi-Final Success

Late last month the Darwin High School Mooting team progressed from the preliminary rounds to the semi-final rounds of the Bond University National High School Mooting Competition.

Competing against 96 other senior school teams, the Darwin High Team was one of only ten chosen for the semi-final.

On Friday 27 May, Year 11 student Eli Bacher and Year 12 student Trudy Francis, as the only team from the Territory, joined the virtual competition in an attempt to secure a spot in the final.

While they didn't progress through to the next round, the result was certainly a cause for celebration.

Principal, Jill Hazeldine said

It was an absolute pleasure to watch Eli and Trudy compete in the semi-final, they did an amazing job, battling nerves and an intermittent internet connection in a high-pressure environment. We are incredibly proud of them.

This week Department of Education Deputy CE, Saeed Amin, presented both Eli and Trudy with certificates of achievement and praised them for their efforts.

Big thanks to Ms Goodsell and all the other staff who supported them with the competition.
