Singapore & Malaysia Centre for Excellence Trip 2015

Singapore’s internationally acclaimed mathematical and scientific achievements make it the ideal choice of destination for Centre for Excellence students and teachers to nurture mathematical and scientific interests. Highlights from the 2015 trip included:
- Marina Barrage in Singapore — Students learnt not only of the engineering aspects involved behind Marina Barrage, but also gained an in-depth insight into the high technology that enabled a small country to terra-form one of its largest bodies of saltwater into freshwater through low-tide flushing, thus providing a solution to Singapore’s rapidly growing water shortage crisis.
- Selangor Pewter Factory in Kuala Lumpur — Students saw the making of pewter products and were given the chance to make their own pewter bowls in a workshop.
This trip was an eye-opening experience in which students further developed their understanding of many of the aspects of maths-related science.
