Students ready to defend International Basketball Championship
Darwin High School will again send a Basketball team to the International High School Basketball Championships in Malaysia next month to defend their title as Championship winners from the 2016 competition.
This year, the team is an invitational team consisting of four Darwin High School students who will be joined by students from Darwin Middle School, Taminmin College and Driver Middle School.
The tournament will take place in the first week of December in Kulim a regional town one hour from Penang in the state of Kedah, Malaysia. Darwin High will be the only Australian team amongst sixteen teams from Indonesia, Singapore, India, Philippines, Canada and Malaysia.
The team includes: James Toohey (captain), Will Burton, Jericho Cruz, Lucas Duncan from Darwin High School. Tyler Fanning, Zeb Hantelmann from Darwin Middle School. Logan Law from Taminmin College. Luca Tutty from Driver Middle School and Kayden Malseed from Kennedy College. Darwin High School teacher, Steve McGugan is Coach and Rob Hantelmann is Team Manager.
