Tapestry

Last week Darwin High School Stage 2 Dance students premiered three spectacular evenings of dance in their performance TAPESTRY.
TAPESTRY is a story of woven, web-like patterns. Humankind. Relationships. Emotions, Concepts. This society of words on a page, diverse identities, different lives – but all a tapestry of connection.
Created by Darwin High School dance teacher, Julia Quinn, this Stage 2 Dance Moderated Performance celebrated a diverse array of choreography by local dance practitioners including Joanna Noonan, Gary Lang, Kelly Beneforti and Yola Grey.
TAPESTRY also included several extraordinary Darwin High School graduate dance students, Jordan Bretherton, Imanuel Dado, Macon Riley, Maria DaSilva, Madi Brown, Tahnee Cvirn and Arthur Lariosa, returned to mentor the 2017 cohort of dancers and created original works for the performance.
Darwin High School teacher, Sarah Calver said
Both the choreography throughout the show and the dancers had the spirit of the title interwoven into their captivating performances and within every move. Beautiful technical work that was not the focus, but the implement that made TAPESTRY so gorgeous. Every performer definitely captured their many audiences with their honest and inspirational interpretations of each choreographic work.
Congratulations to Julia Quinn and all the dance students involved.
