The Beat Festival 2017

The Department of Education's annual performing arts showcase, the 2017 Beat Festival Magic opened on Wednesday 13 September at the Darwin Entertainment Centre.
The production includes a three hundred voice choir, a twenty-five piece orchestra, dance groups, bands, soloists and musical ensembles.
Darwin High School students featured throughout the performances. Year 10 student Drew Holloway shone as an event host and a dancer. Amelia Daroch, Vince Asuncion, Phoebe Wear, Ziggy Durling performed as soloists while Max Higgins performed as a soloist and a dancer.

Twenty of the schools Year 11 dance students took to the stage with their performance of Bollywood Magic. This dance was choreographed by Raji Kandia from the Temple of Fine Arts in Western Australia and arranged by Darwin High School dance teachers, Julia Quinn and Sarah Calver.
Each night this ensemble of talented dancers entertained audiences with their captivating and upbeat Bolly-mania moves and colourful Bollywood costumes and was a favourite with the crowd.
