Transition to Year 12 Music Showcase

Transition to Year 12 Music Showcase

Last week Darwin High School presented a music showcase with students from Darwin Middle and Larrakeyah Primary School.

In 2015 Darwin High and Darwin Middle commenced a partnership between their music faculties to support student outcomes by delivering a seamless middle to senior school learning framework. This lead to the creation of the Bullocky Point Band early this year, a combined band from both the Middle and High School. The Bullocky Point Band, who have been rehearsing together all year with such success invited music students from Larrakeyah Primary School to participate in a music showcase.

Darwin High School Principal, Jill Hazeldine said

Darwin High School offers the largest range of music subjects of any senior school in the Northern Territory and it is wonderful to see these students with such musical talent coming through our feeder schools.

Around forty students and five teachers with a full accompaniment of instruments performed together on the lawns outside Darwin High Schools new Administration building. The event was such a success there are plans for future showcases already underway.
