Tyke-Oh at DHS

Tyke-Oh at DHS

This week some of our Japanese Language students and International students had the pleasure of participating in a Taiko Workshop.

The Tyke-Oh is a traditional Japanese drum and the Taiko workshop gave students the opportunity for students can learn basic Taiko skills.

Taiko is a fun, exciting, and physically demanding activity. Students learned not only how to play Taiko but also Japanese language, posture, manner, the importance of teamwork, as well as the physical structure of Taiko and the science of sound during the workshop.

The workshop was quite energising and the martial arts style session captivated the students' interest, and was enjoyed by everyone!

Darwin High School would like to acknowledge the support of the NT Government and its International Education Innovation Grant, which funded this activity.
