WA Dance Trip Wrap Up

At the end of Week 8, 25 of our dance students and 2 staff departed Darwin for the highly anticipated return of the WA Dance Trip. The group spent a week exploring Perth and enjoying the opportunity to participate in a range of choreography and performance activities.
This was the first trip post Covid for the school and for our young dancers, so Ms Calver made the most of the opportunity with an action-packed itinerary.
The group spent a day with the West Australian Ballet Company and attended their show STATE which was beyond amazing. Up next was two distinctly different WAAPA shows Head over Heels and Rise#1- which were both exceptional. This was followed the STRUT dance workshop and then the show Nocturnal at the Subiaco Arts Centre and a WA/NT Dance Exchange Day with John Forrest Secondary College.
The 2024 nine day DHS WA Dance Trip was beyond incredible- thank you to all of the amazing dance practitioners and performers and especially the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) Dance staff and students for providing inspirational workshops and performances and opportunities for these Darwin dancers - and of course to our DHS staff, Ms Pike and Ms Calver for making the experience possible.
