WAAPA Success
The hard work, training and preparation for the Darwin High School performing arts students auditioning for the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) has paid off! Congratulations to four of our Year 12 Darwin High School dancers.
Max Higgins (pictured below) and Drew Holloway (pictured above) have both been offered places at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts WAAPA BA in Dance 2020 course.
Millie LaPira (pictured bottom left) and Nikita Dakers (pictured bottom right) have been shortlisted by WAAPA.
WAAPA is part of Edith Cowan University and is recognised nationally and internationally for the quality of its graduates. WAAPA has produced many of Australia’s well-known actors, dancers, musicians and music theatre stars including Hugh Jackman, Frances O’Connor, Marcus Graham, William McInnes, Lisa McCune, Lucy Durack, Rachelle Durkin, Emma Matthews, Jamie Oehlers, Eddie Perfect and Tim Minchin.
This reputation and success means student entries to WAAPA are highly competitive. Dance alone this year auditioned over 200 applicants across the country. Good luck to all those students who auditioned and are still waiting on placement offers.
