Womens Studies class visit Parliament House
Darwin High School Women's Studies students and their teacher Jackie Dupe attend morning tea with the Hon. Lauren Moss MLA, the Hon. Natasha Fyles MLA and the Hon. Eva Lawler MLA.
Last month, the Stage 2 Women’s Studies class were invited to a morning tea at Parliament House, hosted by Ministers Moss, Fyles and Lawler. Each of the ministers engaged with the students about issues such as senior years education, women in politics and women’s issues specific to the Northern Territory. The discussion was relaxed and vigorous, with opportunities to ask questions and clarify the ministers’ positions on many topics. It was an excellent chance to see the operational side of Parliament House, as the group of 17 was taken through the building to the meeting room where the morning tea was held.
Interestingly, Ministers Lawler, Fyles and Moss are all Darwin High School alumni. The occasion was highly successful and 2017’s class has been invited to continue to engage with politics and politicians.
The morning tea was such a success it even got a mention by Lauren Moss, MLA on her facebook page.
