World Autism Awareness Day

World Autism Awareness Day

The twelfth annual World Autism Awareness Day is April 2. This year Darwin High School will be participating in an 8-day walking challenge and host a BBQ, fundraising to raise awareness for this important cause.

It is estimated that 1 in 70 people are on the ASD spectrum and it impacts the way these people are able to understand the world around them. World Autism Awareness Day aims to put a spotlight on the hurdles that people with autism face every day and to celebrate the unique talents of those with autism.

Staff, students and families can get involved by:

1.Registering to walk 10,000 steps each day commencing Sunday March 31 until Sunday April 7 (8 days). Use the following link to register for this walking challenge and begin seeking sponsors: https://www.walkforautism.org.au/fundraisers/darwinhighschool

2.Supporting DHS on Tuesday April 2 for World Autism Awareness Day by wearing GREEN and purchasing a BBQ lunch outside the Library to raise funds for Autism NT.

If you are interested in getting involved, please come see Mr Ford in Coordinators’ hub or Ms Golding in SIEU.
