World's Greatest Shave
By School Based Police Officer, Sue Seears
It’s hard to say who had more fun! The Students or Teachers at this years’ World’s Greatest Shave event hosted by the Darwin High School Student Representative Council (SRC) on Thursday 7 April.
Everyone was encouraged to donate a gold coin to colour their hair on the day. No-one was brave enough to shave, but every donation and happy to support a worthy cause, the Leukemia Foundation.
I was the first ‘guinea pig’ in the hot seat and other teachers and students quickly followed suit. School Counsellor Rachelle Copeland and teachers; Ms Temple,Ms Leppitt and even Mr Symons who proclaimed to have ‘no hair’ agreed to colour his whiskers – beard that is for the uninitiated. Purple and Blue in actual fact! Well done you good sport.
Well, once the chairs started filling, it was on for young and old, with students sitting at our salon to receive purple, blue, yellow, orange and pink hues. Some were even convinced to colour their eyebrows!
So far the DHS Team has raised $110 via direct donations on the website and collected $70 cash on the day. Thank you everyone for such terrific support.
