Year 10 Career Expo
On Thursday 31 August around five hundred Darwin High School Year 10 and SIEU students attended the Skills, Employment and Careers Expo at the Darwin Convention Centre.
The Expo is an annual event organised by YouthWorX and the NT Government, and aims to help young people engage in further education and employment.
YouthWorX NT works in collaboration with young people, schools, government departments, community service organisations and business and industry.
Exhibitors included interstate and local Universities and training providers, government agencies and employers. Students had the opportunities to ask questions, undertake activities, collect relevant career information and enter competitions.
The Careers Expo is held in conjunction with Try’a Skill. Try'a Skill is a WorldSkills Australia initiative encouraging people to consider a career in the trades and take on a vocational education and training (VET) study and career pathway. Students had the opportunity to 'have a go' at various skill and trade occupations.
Darwin High School Year 10 Coordinator Nick Ergos said
All of our students demonstrated their ability to be fantastic ambassadors for our school. A big thank you to all of the teachers who were involved to make such a large scale excursion possible.
