Young Territory Author Award Success

On Thursday 30 August the winners of the 28th Young Territory Author Awards 2018 were announced at the Darwin Entertainment Centre. The event saw two Darwin High School students recognised for their entries as talented young writers.
Year 10 student Tiger-Lily Clements took out the prestigious title of Young Territory Author Award for 2018 for her book titled, Anathema.The book is a Young Adult Fiction Novel about a same-sex relationship. The central character of the story is working through her heartache over a relationship that has ended.
The judging panel described Tiger-Lily’s entry as well written and with a unique storyline that connected with all the judges.
As well as the overall winners, awards are given in several categories including age group, regional winners, highly commended and encouragement awards. Darwin High School Year 11 student, Ainul Nadjamuddin was awarded the 16 to 18 years Encouragement Award for her book titled Regret.
This year, the competition received 160 books from 224 young authors. Congratulations to Tiger-Lily and Ainul on such a fantastic achievement.
