In Women’s Studies students look at the world from the perspectives of women.

About the subject

Students examine the diversity of women’s experiences and their relationships to others while promoting an inclusive and just society. Students identify complex and contradictory ideas that exist about femininity and masculinity, and how being a woman or a man may influence an individual’s experiences and expectations.

A 10-credit subject consists of:

  • Gender Analysis Framework: Women, Gender and Social Identity
  • Topic 1: Representations of Women in Cultural Texts
  • Topic 2: Key Issues in Women’s Studies (one issue study)

Assessment

Students demonstrate evidence of their learning through the following assessment types:

  • Text Analysis
  • Group Presentation
  • Issues Analysis.
