Harmony Week 2024 @ DHS

This week Darwin High School celebrated our culturally diverse school community for Harmony Week.
Staff and students got involved and celebrated, inclusiveness, celebrating diversity, respect, and a sense of belonging for everyone.
Throughout the week there was a range of activities including a blessing from the Chung Wah Lion Dance Troupe at our whole school assembly, friendship bracelets handmade by our SIEU students and staff and students paid tribute to their heritage, wearing traditional clothing or the Harmoney Week colour, orange.
Special mention to SEL (wellbeing) group 1303 (pictured above) for the bunting in A covered way. They called for volunteers and got 17 SEL groups to make flags for display. The students also ran a stall at lunch times in week 7 to encourage students to contribute by decorating a flag. The group then turned the flags into bunting and hung them up for Harmony week. What a creative and colourful way to spread the message of inclusion and celebration of all the cultures at our school. Well done to the students and staff of SEL group 1303!
Next Term the SRC are hosting a special lunch, where students can wear their traditional clothing and the best dressed will win a prize. More information will be available in Compass.
