R U OK? Day 2026
Darwin High School came together on Thursday 10 September to celebrate R U OK? Day and the importance of kindness, connection and checking in with one another.
Our combined Years 7–12 lunchtime event on the Oval was filled with colour, laughter and plenty to enjoy. Students and staff took part in a free sausage sizzle, therapy dogs, karaoke, live music, a photo booth, smoothie bikes, community stalls, an ice cup organised by the SRC and more. Many also embraced the R U OK? theme by adding a touch of yellow to their outfits.

The event created an opportunity to start conversations that matter, raise awareness of mental wellbeing and remind us of the importance of looking out for one another. Funds raised on the day will also support future mental health initiatives.
We gratefully acknowledge our community sponsors, including Member for Fannie Bay Laurie Zio, who sponsored and assisted with the BBQ, and QUBE, who sponsored the incredibly popular photo booth. We also extend our sincere thanks to the community organisations who generously gave their time to attend, providing valuable wellbeing information, activities and support for our students and staff.

R U OK? Day was part of a broader program of wellbeing activities across Weeks 9 and 10, including mindful drumming, a Stage 1 film screening, therapy dogs, a staff-versus-student volleyball competition and a free pancake morning tea to finish the term.
Thank you to all the staff and students who contributed to the activities and helped make the program such a memorable part of the term.
Remember, every day is an opportunity to ask: R U OK?
