Darwin High School offers Dance Excellence and Band Excellence programs for talented and committed students entering Year 7 in 2027.

Both programs provide specialised training, advanced learning opportunities and regular performance experiences, within a supportive environment designed to develop confidence, skill and artistic excellence.

Dance Excellence Program

Designed for students with a strong interest and ability in dance, this program focuses on:

• Technique development and performance skills
• Choreography and creative expression
• Strength, flexibility and conditioning
• Ensemble work and stage performance opportunities

Band Excellence Program

Designed for students with instrumental experience and a passion for music, this program focuses on:

• Ensemble performance and musicianship
• Technical development on chosen instruments
• Music theory and interpretation
• Public performances and school events

Who are the programs for?

Registration is open to current Year 6 students intending to enrol at Darwin High School in Year 7 in 2027.

How do I apply?

Register through CompassTix and email a copy of the student's Semester 1 2026 school report and Year 5 NAPLAN report to [email protected] by Friday 4 September 2026.

Auditions and key dates

Entry into the Dance and Band Excellence programs is selective. As part of the application process, students are required to attend an audition to be considered for placement.

Auditions assess current skill level, potential, and readiness for extension within the program. Further details, including requirements and scheduling options, are available through the registration link.

Registration closes at 3:00pm on Friday 4 September 2026. Late registrations will not be accepted.
