On 25 August, Darwin High with the support of the NT Office of Senior Territorians hosted the annual Seniors’ Morning of Entertainment
Darwin High School music students were invited to take part in a learning and development workshop as part of the Up the Guts tour. The two hour workshop delivered on its aim to inspire young people on all things music related.
On 19 August, Darwin High School held its very first Pride Day. This student-led initiative supported LGBTQIA+ students, and is part of Darwin High School’s ongoing wellbeing focus. The initiative was also supported by the Darwin High School Board, the Northern Territory AIDS and Hepatitis Council (NTAHC), Headspace, Youth Empowerment Against HIV/AIDS (YEAH) and Northside Health.
Darwin High School Humanities teacher, Liam Phillips, has been selected for the 2017 Gandel Holocaust Studies Program for Australian Educators. Liam is one of only 35 teachers from around Australia to be selected.
The Darwin High school band had a busy schedule in Week 4, performing at a whole school assembly and the Indonesian Independence Day celebrations.
Darwin High School fielded seven teams in the recent Senior School Table Tennis Tournament held at the Marrara Table Tennis Centre on Wednesday 24 August.
Vietnam Veterans Day (formerly known as The Battle of Long Tan Day) was held on Thursday 18th August.
Over a four night season, approximately 1100+ audience members viewed SECRETS, an exceptional Dance performance described by audiences as: BRILLIANT! - WOW! - INCREDIBLE! - CAPTIVATING! - REALISTIC! - MEMORABLE! - HEARTFELT!
The Home Economics Department has been lucky enough to have had the services of a ‘Chef in Residence’, Anita Marriott, for the past two months. Anita has been ‘on loan’ to Darwin High from her position as chef at Government House.
