On Monday 19th February the Chung Wah Society Lion Dance Troupe was on campus to bless the school. The dance troupe started their visit in the Front Office foyer, paid a visit upstairs to the Northern Territory School of Distance Education and then made their way to the Library and through B covered way.
The National Mathematics Summer School (NMSS) is a two week program held each year in January at the Australian National University for mathematically gifted and talented senior high school students. Students who have completed Year 11 can apply and this year Darwin High School student Nafi Mazid attended.
Darwin High School is taking part in World's Greatest Shave to help beat blood cancer. This year the event is a student led initiative by Year 12 student Max Ingles-Graham.
In 2016 the entire Year 10 SOHP English class entered the Footpath Library’s Epic! Short Story competition and Morgan Gurry won for her story of friendship and Darwin High School won a Street Library for submitting the most number of entries of any school in Australia.
The National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) has a Year 12 Program 12-day residential program designed to give students a broader understanding of the diverse study and career options available in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and to encourage them to continue their studies in these fields. Darwin High School Year 12 student Zoe Heath was selected to attend the 2018 program.
At the end of the term last year Twenty Darwin High students and three teachers departed Darwin for their 2017 World Challenge adventure to Botswana and Namibia.
Last week one of our alumni students, 2015 graduate Nathaniel Kelly celebrated the premier of his first feature film ‘We’re Family Now’ last week. An impressive achievement for the aspiring film maker who has also just completed his first year of study at the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS) in Sydney.
On Friday 24 November, fifteen Darwin High School students and three teachers departed Darwin for the 2017 Japan, Korea and China Trip. The students had the adventure of a lifetime experiencing the culture and languages of each country.

On Monday 4 December Darwin High School held its annual Try Your Timetable Day for 2018 Year 10 students.
Congratulations to Year 10 students Oriana Dupal, Penny Parry, and Leila Peel, who were awarded Best Scientific Communications Poster at the John Monash Science School Australian Science Fair!
