On Saturday 1 September Darwin High School students attended the 2018 Northern Territory Japanese Speech Contest. The NT Japanese Speech Contest is the regional contest used to select a Northern Territory representative for the National competition.
On Thursday 30 August the winners of the 28th Young Territory Author Awards 2018 were announced at the Darwin Entertainment Centre. The event saw two Darwin High School students recognised for their entries as talented young writers.
Last week, Darwin High School students participated in Women’s Health Week Activities.
On Friday 24 August, Darwin High, with the support of the NT Office of Senior Territorians, hosted the annual Seniors’ Morning of Entertainment. This was the tenth year that the school had held the event, with many of the guests saying it was the highlight of the Seniors’ Month Calendar.
The Darwin High School Rotary Interact Club ran their first Op Shop at lunchtime today last week.
On Wednesday 29 August, the Stage 1 Geography class went on an excursion to the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT) to examine the Cyclone Tracy exhibition. The class is currently studying a unit on natural hazards, with a focus on cyclones in the Northern Territory and other parts of Australia.
Year 11 Biology classes have just spent lessons in the Mangroves between Darwin High School and Mindil Beach gathering data for a Field Study summative assessment task.
Darwin High School parents/carers, students and staff are invited to complete the Darwin High School 2018 NT School Survey. The survey is live from Monday 13 August to Friday 31 August.
On Saturday 18 August, four Darwin High students joined around two hundred members of the general public at the annual Vietnam Veterans Commemorative Service. Year 10 student Liam Harwood, Year 12 students Kiara Hind, Zoe Heath and Paris Rahul represented the school at the event.
