​On Saturday 16 June, the Plain English Speaking Award NT final was held at Darwin High School.

​Last week the Year 10 Food for Life classes made nearly 300 ready to reheat meals for those with food insecurity. All of this was done in one double lesson using foods ‘rescued’ from Foodbank NT in Berrimah.

​Darwin High School (DHS) fielded three teams in the Northern Territory Debate Competition this year. Each of the teams participated admirably and enjoyed the competition whilst developing their skills in public speaking and argument. One of our teams, consisting of Samuel Roussos, Lachlan Anderson, Joel Keith and Diana Mukayeva, made the Grand Final.

On Tuesday 22 May five Darwin High School Year 10 students attended the Jingili Primary School Science Expo.

“Civics can be fun” is the verdict of Darwin High School’s Legal Studies students from Years 10, 11, and 12, as well as three classes of Secondary Intensive English Unit (SIEU) students, after competing in teams in a “Democracy Dash” within the School on Friday 25 May.

​Last month Year 12 student Benjamin Sutherland held Biggest Morning Tea fundraising activities to raise money for the Cancer Council.

On Friday 18 May Darwin High School welcomed eye surgeon, Professor Justine Smith on campus to speak to some of our Year 10 students as part of the Australian Superstars of STEM program.

​On Friday 18 May Darwin High School held its second annual Health Expo event in the Tank.

​DHS’s Dance Department have been cultivating their community dance event, Dance Showcase, and this year it celebrated its 8th year in existence.
